MARBLEHEAD CULTURAL COUNCIL

2021 Application Forms will be accepted until December 14. Click here for more information.

The Marblehead Cultural Council (MCC) is one of 351 local organizations that are funded directly from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.  We use our allocations to support community-based activities in the arts, the humanities, including history, and interpretive sciences.
Board members, who are selected by the Board of Selectmen, review applications and award grants.  We also review applications from schools and youth groups for a ticket subsidy program.
The Marblehead Cultural Council Priorities are based on our 2017 community input survey, state guidlines, and current events.  The results indicate a preference to fund and support projects and developments of local artists and cultural programs; arts in schools; historical, envronmental, and science education; community events and public performances.
All projects must have a Marblehead location, benefit Marblehead residents, and be accessible to the general public.  The MCC has voted to place emphasis on new, emerging, and established artists and programs in local venues as well as racially and culturally diverse programing .
Programs that have received MCC funding for multiple years may have a lower funding priority so that we may consider new applications.  All funding grants are limited.  Each MCC funded project must be completed within the calendar year.
All grants made by the MCC are reimbursement-based. If you are awarded a grant, you will be required to submit a final report to the MCC upon completion of your program.  The Marblehead Cultural Council can only accept online applications.
The Marblehead Cultural Council meetings are held at the Marblehead Community Center, 10 Humprey Street, throughout the year and are posted on the town website, http://marblehead.org.
